Yes, it is easy to solo most of the game.

Re: Is Privateer easy to solo?

Hi, 'Dark Spirit'. I have currently 3 max-level characters --swashbuckler (Anne), witchdoctor (Anneke), and privateer (Charlotte)-- and have soloed the game with all three of them. Each has their advantages and disadvantages, and with the privateer, I thought it probably most challenging around mid-level for my character. My privateer didn't get herself bopped on the head and rendered unconscious quite so often as Anne (who was rather reckless besides. Goes with being a swashbuckler), but Charlotte's accuracy was terrible, and in a tough fight, if she lost her companions she was usually doomed. At higher levels her accuracy improved a great deal, and now, especially with the Axe of the Minotaur Lords in her hands, she is quite formidable even on her own.

Mind you, in one on one combat, a decent swashbuckler or buccaneer of her level would take her down. But that is not the strength of the privateer. The strength of the privateer is in all the accessory spells that aid allies and companions. In most of the classes, your pirate leads by example, but in the privateer, you lead by support and encouragement. There is also some strategy involved, deciding on how exactly you provide that support from battle to battle. And that is all part of the fun.

Re: Is Privateer easy to solo?

Privateer is a pretty great class for soloing in my opinion. Especially considering you get healing spells (although the other classes can learn rouse and get gear with healing talents.) Although, not having as many attack spells is kind of a bummer, if you're soloing you're going to want to do more than buff and heal (though that's what you're going to be spending a lot of your time doing as a Privateer.) I'd suggest training the Witchdoctor attacks considering your will is going to be pretty high anyways for your healing and can hit long distances which is a pretty smart move considering Privateers are supposed to stand back a bit. So basically, yeah it's pretty easy to solo. Although, all the classes can be easy to solo if you know how to use them efficiently.

Re: Is Privateer easy to solo?

I found that solo Privateers tend to struggle a bit at first before they get some buff and heal powers and haven't obtained or promoted enough companions. I haven't tested this out since the addition of the Skull Island expansion though, so I'm not sure how this affects things. About the middle to end of Monquista, level 15-17, things really improve. Toward the end of Aquilla, things do get tough again when your healing can't keep up with chained attacks that can take down El Toro and others in a single round and your buffs prove ineffective.

As others mentioned, the Privateer strategy is to fight with companions by selecting the right mix for the situation and using buffing and heals to keep them in the fight. If you prefer to have an aggressive player strategy then you'll struggle with a Privateer since you'll be too busy fighting yourself and not buffing/healing companions. Of course, you can charge in for finishing hits to allow your already buffed companions to focus on the next target.

Personally, it's easy until certain points like General Tso, Maruzame Castle, and Beachhead. And don't even get me started on Hamakala temple.

After you get to lvl 25 like Musketeer it's smooth sailing. Because that's when you get Espirit and from there you just go right through with ease honestly.

Lvl 65 Witchdoctor Sneaky Jeremy Silver l Musketeer Bloody Jeremy Everhart l SwashBuckler Jeremy Everhart
Buccaneer Reckless Jeremy Quincy l Privateer John Walker

Re: Is Privateer easy to solo?

For me it wasn't hard or super easy, but fun. My Privateer is my main Pirate because I love being able to support my allies while having a huge crew in the background. It might also be because I **** at all the other classes.... Best of luck soloing the game with a Privateer!!

Yes, however, your character is weak and wont do much in damage in combat you rather rely on your companions so don't get frustrated when you can't do much
