    Predictions For The 2018 Update

    I wanted to start a thread where people could give their thoughts on when and what they think the upcoming update will be.

    First off, in order to accurately predict when the update will be you have to accurately predict when the update hints will be, here are my predictions:

    August 2018 Ki Live: Thursday August 23rd or Friday August 24th, give us 1 or 2 update hints.

    Week Of August 26th: 1 Update Hint

    Week Of September 2nd: 2 Update Hints

    Week Of September 9th: Test Realm

    Week Of September 23th: Update

    All that could be wrong but I feel like Kingsisle wants to have the update in September so they can focus on Wizard 101 in October for their 10th anniversary.

    Now here are is my "Top 11 Things That Are Likely To Be In The Upcoming Pirate 101 Update" list as of 08/09/2018 (1 being most likely, 11 being least likely but possible):

    1. Ship PVP Improvements

    2. New Mount(s)

    3. New First Generation And / Or Hybrid Pet(s)

    4. Chat Improvments

    5. Quest Finder

    6. Spirits Of Yuletide Set Bug Fixes

    7. New Pet Name Additions

    8. Krampus

    9. Ambassador Quests Improvements

    10. New Housing Items

    11. 5 New Levels

    With that I want to give others the chance to give their thoughts.

    One note I have to tell you is that October is ALSO Pirate101's 6th anniversary, so they DEFINITELY have to prepare something new for that as well. SPEAKING of which, I think it's also a neat idea for them to have an annual Halloween dungeon or event besides opening presents, special crowns shop items, and spooky companion sale. We already have our gingerbread ship mobs during Christmas, so surely we could have Halloween mobs to farm for cosmetic drops as well. The next step would definitely be for a Halloween/B-day based instance just like how Wizard101 has Nosferabbit's instance.

    Which does bring me to say how on point your list would be in regards to possible updates. I immediately jump to the inclusion of an October Halloween instance or ship mob like Nosferabbit the moment you mention Krampus. It is definitely most likely that they will only add to whatever content exists in this game atm and not likely include anything new in terms of an expansion of the game. Regarding the Spirits of Yuletide set, that also brings me to talking about companion promotions. Not only could the Spirits use one, but other companions in the game as well. We should have at least one more promo for our Cool Ranch/Bison companions, and a promo or two for the companions we receive in Aquila (which are the only companions I can think of on my mind now). I also have my vote for an increase in level cap, as it becomes all too easy to get to max level considering the lackadaisical EXP management between main and side quests of both 101 games.

    I do want to ask, though. What is it about the Ambassador Quests that could use improvement? I don't tend to do them too much, and the only thing I know of them is how much gold they give as well as the Kane accessories you can possibly receive from the questline. Do clarify for sure.

    One thing I would say that should go on the list is adjusted loot pools. When you fight Ch'ok Ak'ab, the prawn mastermind, and the Floating Dutchman, especially since you can cabin glitch him, you are GUARANTEED at least ONE of the main level 5+ accessory drops they give each time. In comparison, the WORST culprit of all is level 65+ Moo Manchu. When you defeat him, you only receive his ONE lonely chest behind the 2 statues amongst the mob chests in the room. HOWEVER, the chance of receiving his exclusive gear and weapons amounts to less than 10% to the general population of people who farm him. This is due to the fact that unlike the 3 extra Skull Island bosses I mention, Moo's boss chest only yields 1/100 of the possible loot he drops WITH NO GUARANTEE of at LEAST ANY of his staff of power! If anything, we need an INCREASED loot pool from Moo Manchu's chest, which can guarantee us at LEAST one of his staves of power while slightly increasing the chance of being able to receive his garment as a possible regular drop instead of a "guaranteed drop."

    Speaking of loot, I should also bring up Kane. The good news is is that Kane is at least more generous than Moo when it comes to drops, with an increased loot pool from his list of drops increasing the chances of getting your lvl 70+ class gear, his mask, and clockwork steed. The bad news? The loot pool apparently is favoring privateer drops. Every pirate I have ever farmed with receive Privateer drops 70% of the time, with 20% for witchdoctor, buckler, or musk, while the last 10% goes to buccaneer. Regardless of whichever class I farm with, the GREATEST percentage of Kane gear drops are STILL majorly Privateer. Additionally, if you do the Ambassador/Party Barge quests for Kane loot, the level 70 loot pool does favor musketeer and witchdoctor for accessories. I really don't know if this is an error in programming for the loot pool of Kane drops, but this is definitely a bit of a glaring concern if the percentage of class gear and Kane's exclusives are not fairly distributed across the spectrum.

    These are currently my thoughts. I know I wrote it pretty long, but I hope I have gotten my point across as to what I wish they can update with existing content. (I wish I can say stuff about Valencia part 2's difficulty and toning it, but half the times, some people don't know how to go about it, while the other half of the time, some players know how to survive and even solo it.)

    That is a really good post, and I will answer some of your points:

    1. I do think we will get some new items for Halloween, but I suspect a mount and pet, when you load in Pirate 101 you will find Krampus is already in the files so because of that I think Krampus is much more likely than a Halloween dungeon. I believe the gingerbread ships we got last year may end up being a precursor to Krampus.

    2. I don't think other current companions will get promotions unless max level is raised, I have heard but can't independently confirm a few companions currently without promotions have promotions in the files. However, based on a post I saw awhile back I don't believe the Yuletide Spirits have promotions in the files, if they don't that leads me to conclude they were supposed to but Kingsisle rushed them and failed to add them upon release. One-Eyed Jack our previous community manager even seemed to confirm the Yuletide Spirits have at least 2 bugs (though I count 3) on social media. I hope and suspect these will be fixed, and it will be nice if they are.

    3. Pirates in the Level 40 - Level 50 range have complained about it being too difficult to collect stingers for the ambassador quest, I think Kingsisle will update it to make it easier and possibly make rotating ambassador quests.

    4. If loot tables are adjusted (which they could be) I would expect more housing items to be added to them, however I think this will mostly be with the Skull Island bosses only as based on a Falmea Friday it seems that would be where the housing items would mostly be added, if that is the case that might decrease the chance of getting Skull Island gear making it even with Moo Manchu gear.

    There are a few things I would personally like to see, but I'm not sure if they are on KI's radar:

    Quality-of-life updates like in Wiz
    - Gear sets
    - Backpack space
    - Membership benefits like free practice point buyback, double pet xp, free second-chance chest reroll

    Endgame content
    - House tours
    - PVP Tournaments with special rules
    - Crafting and fishing
    - More dungeons like the Smugglers' Arena

    Anyway, whatever it is they have in store, I'm looking forward to it :P

    I really hope they fix the Party Barge. As it stands, you can only get very specific Kane gear, and its only for Witchdoctors and Musketeers. I understand if they dont want to makeall Kane gear accessible, but maybe at least open it up to totems, rings, and charms for all classes? No hats, outfits, or boots, just the smaller things, and all three options for each slot for each class.

    EDIT: Also, has it been confirmed that we are getting an update, or is this all just wishful thinking?

    It can definitely go two ways.

    1) Post-game content and/or add-ons to already existing assets in the game's files

    2) An ACTUAL expansion worth waiting for

    Also, I skimmed through your "Forging" thread a bit. It should definitely be moved to the "Pirate101 Feedback" forum, so that there's a higher chance for staff at Kingsisle to take a look at since it's one of the exceptional forums they will look at.

    Prediction: KI will release something that is pretty much a defibrillator shock to the ill body on life support that is this game. Just enough to keep a faint pulse, but no real treatment.

    I doubt this will be a story update, and even if it is it will likely be a half-baked trainwreck like Valencia pt2. About four or so hours of mostly reused assets and a few new models that do little to impress. Two years that will culminate into about six months of actual effort.

    Maybe a new dungeon that will have the new top-notch gear, but that would just be a two-hour romp with gear that can only really be used in PvP, as if you reach that point PvE is just more farming, as no new content is out to use it for (like a new chapter).

    If it's a quality of life update, then it's pretty much the same issue previously stated, for convenience is not content. If there will be gear sets then returning players will return to organize your gear... with nothing to do with that.

    I'm very skeptical regarding a new update that has two or all of the above options. We got fluff for three years before getting Chapter 15(bleh), and it's been over two years since then with no proof of progress being made (and all the fluff since then has been 90% reused content) . History is likely to repeat and I would love to be wrong, but that is unlikely and Chapter 15 pretty much trashed the game's quality in my opinion. The game is pretty much completely dead as of now, and I don't think it can be resuscitated.
