    Obsidian Skeleton Key room issues

    The Old Scratch mirror enemy is no joke -- he's at Level 80.

    I am already defeated and they have many powers and talents we haven't expected/seen before. Mr. Neville at Level 78 has abilities I haven't seen on any Buccaneer -- Rallying Cry, Juju, and major heals.

    Combining the promotion quest with Smuggler's Arena difficulty doesn't seem fair to me. I accidentally exited the room after using dungeon recall and now it's asking for a key to re-enter.

    No promotion for Old Scratch is happening this way.

    They will have to be scaled down otherwise. It's likely we'll need new powers and talents for our pirates and companions for the fight to be fair. That means a lvl cap increase is needed for sure, which could hint at the possibility of having to release a new world with new mobs to use our newfound abilities on.

    Well, now that you know what you're getting yourself into. It's time you oughta strategize. Hmm?

    Yes, well, considering I'm locked out, I'll have plenty of time to come up with some other plan. Mirror Scratch had an ability that allowed him to damage pretty much the entire battleboard from his corner. Their team starting health is TWICE that of my team.

    It almost seems designed for team play rather than a solo promotion quest. It makes sense as a stand alone dungeon, but not for a promotion quest.

    Considering the battle of Kane fits within the criteria of "team play rather than solo," yet there are talented players who have come up with a strategy to go through the Machine dungeon on their own, albeit with enough effort, patience, sacrifice, and planning. Hopefully, you can do the same.

    For me, the fight is borderline too difficult to be fun or enjoyable. But, if that's what is HAS to be for whatever reason, fine. But I agree - not for a promotion quest. The key use for a promotion quest isn't a great idea. You're not the first to get locked out and I can imagine that will happen often, specifically to people not familiar with keys from Wizard101. They don't seem to drop too commonly either.

    This fight is much harder than Kane. I can solo Kane. I can solo the Smuggler's Arena. This one took a couple tries.

    My privateer finally survived after hiring and losing four henchpeople. The rewards in the chests were pretty underwhelming -- gold and standard Scrimshaw level 25 common items, like the Jade Seal, Soldier's Corselet and Valencian Duelling Set.

    I did get 100 Scrip, but not another Obsidian Skeleton Key, so I can't even return and try again. We will need to find these Skeleton Keys, probably from farming Kane or Martin Chambers.

    This intro to skeleton keys should have been a lower-level quest, like the one just introduced to Wizard101 around Level 5, especially if they are going to become more widespread for all level pirates.

    I didn't find this one too difficult to solo on my swashbuckler (didn't use flames, tide, or scratch). Killing Old Scratch within 3 rounds is a must because of his aoe's insane damage, meaning you'll need to either have a buccaneer and/or swashbuckler rush him or a group of pirates with Big Guns power cards (trained or from gear) spam him down while using Scratch's buffs to increase the guns' damage. The second priority is to kill the swashbuckler with repel boarders 4. As far as I remember, he's the one that summons extra enemies every round.

    Yeah for a promotion quest this fight is way too difficult and frustrating to complete, and it being locked behind a skeleton key makes it even worse. I don't expect it to be a walk in the park but it should at least be doable without having to tear your hair out or play a specific class just to promote someone, and it should not be locked behind a skeleton key door either.

    Promotion fights have always been a little hard, but seeing what you guys are posting (no member so no test for me) this fight is way unbelievably difficult. Really? For a promotion quest? Presidio 5's weren't even that hard. CAPTAIN HANDE wasn't even that hard.

    Yeah, it's a clever intro to Skeleton Keys, but really. Tone it down so it's at least possible to defeat. I know I'm gonna totally get crushed.
