    While I usually don't stray from speculation...I like to have my speculation based on something and there just isn't much out there since the game is still in alpha. What has been stated from interviews (most of this comes from the game breaker interview):
    Companions will be like sub characters you control and which you get in that battle will be semi random. The example used was 'like drawing a card from a deck where you can add more of the one you like the best'. Seems pretty much like wizard spell decks. There is suppose to be two and a half types of combat, land battles (board game type) and ship to ship (which how it works wasn't stated) and within ship to ship 'boarding' the other boat (board game type again).

    About your specific questions... I have no clue. It sounds like from the video it will be collective movement but I could be reading too much into it. As for energy....I feel like pulling a Sergeant Schultz.... I KNOW NOTHING!

    Lol, cant get over that... "Checkers meets pokemon." I'll admit, I was confused until you said that. I am a little slow... (if you've ever seen one piece, that explains why I have luffy's hat.)

    Idk if i'll do any good at this... but I am good at pokemon on a competitive lvl.

    Wasnt there another combat style?? Is this playstyle just for the ship only or the whole game?

    There already are some tactics based mmos out there if you want to try out a tactics based combat system. Hmm, if I'm not mistaken, square enix is affiliated with a relatively recent one, Wakfu. Keep in mind that the combat systems in other tactics games may not be representative of the one used in Pirate101, but they should give you a good feel for the genre. For tactics veterans, the only thing you might be missing is the perspective of controlling a single unit instead of an entire team. (Or in the case of Pirate101, sounds like a subset of the units on your team with the companions system.)

    I can't wait until some sort of beta, or something is released, I really wanna try this game out, and the battle system looks pretty cool too.

    To tell the truth, that battle system looks annoying. From the pictures I've looked at, and the reading I've done on the offical website, I was expecting more like you have to click a certain button to attack, or your character auto-attacks the enemy. But this battle system reminds me of a game I was horrible at. But, other than that, there was good info packed into this article. Thanks for the info. If the battle system is like that, this guide will be a great help.
