    Ship Sailing 101

    How to control your ship:

    • W / up arrow - speed up.
      • Note that the top speed is much lower if you are in a battle or close to land.

    • A / left arrow - turn left
    • D / right arrow - turn right
    • S / down arrow - this one is a bit more complicated
      • If you are not in a battle, your ship will slow down. However, if you are at a dead stop, this means your ship will start moving forward.
      • If you are in a battle, your ship will go backward.

    • Space - stop.
    • Speed Boost - this allows you to run away from enemy ships faster
      • "z" to start or stop
      • fuel - on the left side of your ship health (big blue orb on the lower right of your screen), there is a little green orb. The green orb indicates your fuel reserve. You can click on it to increase your ship speed. You can refuel at various fuel vendors.
      • you can also purchase an temporate speed boost for your ship from ship parts vendor. I like this option better since I don't have to refuel. However, it only lasts a few second.

You can select a ship as target by left click it.
    • Gray target circle - The ship is out of range. Keey in mind that the enemy ship may be able to shot farther than you.
    • Orange target circle - The ship is in range. Start blasting away before you are blow out of the skyway.
    • Red target circle - You are very close to the enemy. If your ship has less than 50% of its health, you are likely to be boarded (i.e. hand-to-hand combat). If the enemy ship has less than 50% health, you will have the option to board it.
    • Green circle - Friendly ship.

    Firing
    • Your ship will automatically fire at the enemy ship
    • 1 - Figure Head. This usually is another cannon and it may add a damage toke to the enemy ship.
    • 2 - Horn. This usually is your big damage spell.
    • 3 - Steering Wheel. This usually is the heal spell.
    • 4 - Rudder. This usually improves ship accuracy / dodge

    A few tips
    1. If you are going full speed and turning, you will make a very WIDE turn. This means that you may run into an enemy (creature or ship) and enter into a battle. I highly recommend to stop (space key) before you make any turn.
    2. If you don't want the enemy to board your ship, make sure your target circle is not red.
    3. Before engage in combat, make sure there isn't another enemy ship in range. Otherwise, they will gang up on you.
    4. Anchor your ship (i.e. stop) when in battle, so you don't accidently draft into another enemy.
    5. If you are in a battle with an enemy ship and run into a creature, you will end up fighting the creatures.
    6. If you and your friend are doing this together (i.e. more than 1 ship), the enemy ship will focus on the first one that got in range.
    7. If you are in a battle and noticed another enemy ship is coming close, backup (or turn & move away). Take care that you don't move into another creature / ship.
    8. You can engage a ship (i.e. Orange), back up until the target circle is Gray. Stop and wait. The enemy ship will come to you (slowly). You can use this method to lure an enemy ship away from its friends.
    9. Your ship will automatically target and fire on the ship that is firing at you. However, if you are doing this as a group and you are not the first ship, you will have to manually select the enemy ship to engage in the battle.

This guide is very well written!
There were actually several things that I didn't know. I only thought you could use the arrow keys to turn, but I guess there is another way!
(The ASWD is a actually a lot easier for me. Thanks!)
Haha, I learned the hard way that when your at full speed and turning, you run into a mouthful of jellyfish.
End of story, don't turn like Cody!

I have a question, can we fire at other players? I would love to blow my friends out of the sky (I'm so loving)
haha, jk. Just a question. I know when I played Pirates online, players would sink me for no reason

Excellent guide! I would also add not to be afraid to anchor your ship when in combat with a single target. If you're anchored, you have less of a chance of running into other enemy ships .
