Farming Boss Ships by Skyway
**Work in Progress**
There are Boss Ships in just about all the Skyways of the Spiral. Farming Boss Ships can reward Pirate Captains with better ship equipment than typical mob ships of the same level, and oftentimes will drop more gold per battle. Some even count toward their ship class for quest rewards. The Pirate101 Central Wiki lists all Boss Ships by name: http://www.pirate101central.com/wiki...ry:Enemy_Ships
This Guide will describe the various Boss Ships that can be sunk in Nautical Battle, or plundered through Boarding.
SKULL ISLAND
Skull Island Skyway - Near Jonah Town, at the outer edge of the skyway, there is a Rank 6 ship, The Threepenny Rake (Mack the Shark's ship), which drops Raft origin equipment or small amounts of Gold. The ship has a fairly small patrol radius, and can be found pretty easily.
Also on the outside edge of the skyway, between Jonah Town and the Vortex of Doom is where the Rank 5 Chimaeron (Captain - Jose Valdez) sails. This ship has a wider range than the Threepenny Rake, and has pretty much the same drops. By changing realms and defeating both of these ships each time, a savvy Raft Captain will be kitted out in almost no time at all.
Deidre's Delight (Captain - Deadeye Deirdre) is the ship that looks like it was pirated from Cool Ranch, a steam paddle-wheeler that sails among the Cutthroat Ships near the entrance to Corsair's Channel. She's only Rank 4, and re-spawns pretty quickly, but the neighboring Cutthroat ships may make her harder for a Raft Captain to farm. Her patrol occasionally takes her pretty close to the Blue Windlane.
Flotsam Skyway- Kon Tiki (Captain - Kona Kaa) is out at the edge of the skyway past the Ghost Ships near Flotsam. This ship is Level 7 and drops Any Origin Anchors and Wheels in addition to Pirate Origin equipment for proud new skiff owners. For some reason, the ship will not follow and board wounded ships, but continues on its programmed course.
The Hoodoo Canoe (Buga Buga's ship) is a Level 15 double-canoe located among the Water Mole Canoes between Waponi Wu and the Cool Ranch Stormgate entrance. It may be something about Water Mole captains, but this ship will also ignore wounded enemies and continue its route. Ship equipment drops include both Pirate and Monquista Origin items, making this ship a good place to farm for equipment that will help pirates heading to Cool Ranch.
Tradewinds Skyway - At the far end of the skyway -- The Careless Archer, Captain Edward Waters' Level 11 ship is located at the far edge of the pink Windlane, past the Gold Mine. This ship is mentioned in the quest Monkey See, Monkey Do, available in Puerto Mico. This ship is a good source for all types of Pirate Origin equipment.
At the same corner of the pink Windlane is The Remora, a tiny Cool Ranch-style paddlewheeler, sailed by Captain Robert Leech. Sinking this ship is a task for the side quest Mom's Tarnished Tea Set, available in Scrimshaw. This Level 14 ship drops much the same Pirate Origin equipment as The Careless Archer, and they can be farmed together easily.
Inside the loop of the pink Windlane, between the stormgate to Monquista and the Scurvy Dog Hideout, sails The Orca, a Level 15 Cutthroat ship owned by The Mighty Quint. This ship drops a few pieces of Monquista Origin equipment, but mostly Pirate Origin things.
Flawless Victory hides behind the Scurvy Dogs' hideout at the farthest corner of the skyway. It's master is Captain Zirconia, must be defeated for the side quest "Diamonds, a Girl's Best Friend?" in Puerto Mico. This is a Level 11 ship, and it drops much the same equipment as the other Dog-crewed ships in the area.
Port Regal Skyway - The Royal Sovereign (Admiral Barnsley) patrols among the Marleybone Ships near the stormgate to MooShu at the outer edge of the skyway. This Level 28 ship drops Royal Navy Origin ship equipment as well as small amounts of Scrip.
MONQUISTA
Tierra Primata Skyway - El Cid is near Monquista City and El Sombrero Amarillo is in the middle between St. Bonobo's Abbey and Zenda.
VALENCIA
Aragon Skyway is one that has no wandering boss ships.
Calabria Skyway - Martin Chambers' ship, The Pretender, drops Level 70 ship equipment for all origins. High level pirates farm for rare Horns as well as the only pet dropped by a ship, the Severus Snake. This boss is named in a Florezan side quest, Look to the Skies!
COOL RANCH
Cooper's Roost Skyway has three boss ships: The Bonanza, a Level 17 ship that sails near the Cooper's Roost Docks and features in the Side Quest, Are You Chicken? which can be found in the Silver Spur Saloon and completed by either boarding or sinking this ship. Equipment drops include Pirate, Bison and Monquistan origins. The Midnight Special, also Level 17, sails outside the yellow windlane near the Bison Burial Grounds and drops much of the same equipment as The Bonanza. This boss features in one of Rooster Cogburn's side quests. Finally El Tiro Loco, a Level 24 ship, can be found between the windlanes toward the entrance to Santo Pollo Skyway. This ship's captain is named in the quest Peacemaker. Equipment for Bison origin ships can be obtained by sinking this ship.
Big Sky Skyway has no boss ships.
Santo Pollo Skyway has no boss ships.
Tumbleweed Skyway has The Dust Devil and the Turret, Fort Rosco
Haunted Skyway has La Llorona, a Level 35 ship that patrols among the Ghost Ships between Fort McMurtry and the Abandoned Church.. The Salt Witch's ship drops higher level Bison origin, and even some Samoorai origin ship equipment.
MOOSHU
Hamamitsu Skyway - has no boss ships.
Khotan Skyway has 2 boss ships, the Pearl Wolf and the Gyudon, as well as the Kaorosawa Fortress (Turret)
Subata Skyway - has 2 boss ships, Samarkand and The Hamato
MARLEYBONE
Westminster Skyway - The Hart of Gold is located somewhere in the corner of the map near the Trafalgar Vortex. Captain Brocks and his ship are Level 57, and the ship has been reported to drop a variety of Horns and Wheels, as well as Royal Navy origin ship equipment. This ship re-spawns pretty quickly.
The Assault Station Turret only appears about every 6-7 minutes, spawning at Spoke B of Beachhead and moves slowly towards the first shipwreck in the corner of the skyway, where it lowers and stops. It stays there for a few minutes and then moves to the second shipwreck. This Level 57 ship cannot be boarded. Drops include some unique items for Royal Navy origin ships, like the Shrouds of St. Fido.
AQUILA
Achaean Way - The Kerberos belongs to Captain Pluton, and sails within the loop of the windlane between Talos and the unnamed stormgate, among the Vulture Pirate ships needed for several quests in Aquila. This is a popular farming location for "wolf packs" of ships looking for nautical experience and good Eagle origin ship equipment, especially the Horn of Vesuvius.
The Gladiatrix is Captain Spartacos; ship, which appears near the Laestrygon[COLOR=#000000][FONT=sans-serif] end of the Achaean Way. This ship counts as a Renegade Eagle Ship for the Quest It's a Trap!. It is not as popular a farming location, possibly because it is farther away from the windlane, but drops much the same equipment as the Kerberos.
Ithaca Skyway - There are no boss ships in Ithaca.
